On September 11…Robyn (RVT), Marta (RVT), Sue, Lindsay, Mary and Julie attended the TAVM. They learned about Infectious diseases and infection control. The speaker was Dr. Scott Weese from the University of Guelph. During the lecture they found out that infectious diseases pose an ever-present risk to both animals and humans, and their incidence and importance continues to increase. The overall presentation provided an overview of some major areas of infectious disease burden; the increasing animal and public-health concerns with methicillin-resistant staphylococci, prevention and control of surgical site infections and the overall concept of veterinary hospital infection control. It was a great lecture overall and the Lakeview ladies brought some great knowledge back to the clinic. It will be so clean…we might even be able to eat off the floor. : )
