February was a busy month for the Lakeview Staff…everyone had some type of continuing education to attend.
On February 11 – Robyn (RVT), Sue, Julie, Mary and Lindsay attended the TAVM (Toronto Academy of Veterinary Medicine) to learn about The “Unexpected” in Anesthesia which covered complications and errors that can happen while an animal is under anesthetic. They also learned about different ways to repair Cruciate Injuries; what the difference is between them and which procedure is the best to use.
From February 15-19 Dr. Ralston attended the Western Veterinary Conference in VEGAS! During her visit she attended day long lectures which included her favourite subject…DENTISTRY!
On February 23 both Dr. Scott and Dr. Wisener attended the Veterinary Team appreciation round at the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC). They benefited from 2 hours of lectures from 4 different staff veterinarians on Renal and Urogenital Diseases and Conditions.
The last event was attended by our two RVTs Robyn and Marta. They attended the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technician Conference. It goes over a two-day period (Feb 27-28); this year the conference was in Niagara Falls at the Scotiabank Conference Center. They both attended many lectures which included learning about weight loss, pain management, preventing hypothermia while under anesthetic and diabetes. They also attended the trade show which allowed them to talk to many, many different reps from a wide variety of companies. They learned a lot and have brought their knowledge back to be implemented into their daily routine here at Lakeview!
Now that March is here…a new month of continuing education has begun! On March 11 the staff (Robyn (RVT), Marta (RVT), Sue, Mary, Julie and Lindsay) attended another TAVM lecture. This one was about Parasitology and the presenter was Julie Jones an RVT who has an amazing imagination. Who knew someone could turn a lecture about parasites into a MUSICAL! She did and boy did we learn a lot…it was a fun night of laughs and great information..all about POO!
